As the 2023-2024 school year approaches, I am in my sixteenth year of teaching at NPAS, and I am thrilled to continue my journey at Eagle View Elementary as an interventionist. I'm so excited to see my students back for intervention this year!
I received my BA in Elementary Education K-6 from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN with a double major in Library Media Science, and received my masters in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN. Since I have a passion for teaching reading, I received an additional licensure in Reading K-12 from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. As I value learning, I continue to take courses beyond my masters in order to keep current with educational practices. In recent years, my passion has included additional training within Orton Gillingham methodology, the science of reading, and implementing this structured, multi-sensory instruction into my classroom. This explicit, direct, sequential, and systematic approach to literacy enriches the literacy of all students, but especially students with dyslexia.
I'm so lucky that my job entails teaching young students to become confident in language and literacy skills. Some children will learn with me for multiple years, while others may only need additional support for a short time. Either way, I value the relationships I make with my students and their families in order to help our children grow confidence in learning. In addition to my teaching passion, I love to spend my free time outdoors with my family. My husband and I made our home in the country outside of Elko New Market, which has given us the opportunity to enjoy nature and spend time on our boat, ATV's, and snowmobiles. Our two boys, also attend NPAS with our oldest Max, beginning 9th grade and our youngest, Weston beginning 7th grade. We enjoy cheering them on within their passions of baseball, basketball, soccer, and tennis. We value New Prague Area Schools!
